Hemlock Tears

Hemlock Tears is the songwriting project of David Goulden. I write from the small moments, not the big ones.

The songs usually begin as scenes: a room, a street corner, a thought you can’t quite shake. They’re built from concrete details, and morph into what might have been.

Hemlock Tears is ongoing. Each release is tied to a specific time and place where something shifted.

Homewood Avenue Cover Art

Debut Release

Cat Got Tongue (Single) - out now Listen

A song about hesitation so loud it becomes its own language. A brief encounter, a missed moment, and a refrain that keeps returning years later like unfinished business.

St. Martin’s Lane (Single) - available Feb. 13, 2026

A song about wanting to speak and watching the words fail to appear. Inspired by a person, an old street-cinema tale of a performer and a runaway talent, and the cost of trying to reach someone who's already leaving.

Homewood Avenue (EP) - coming soon

Four songs written in a bachelor apartment in 1980s Toronto, and revisited decades later from a bedroom in Tokyo.
